Right to Health

We accompany rural patients to access specialized medical care, eliminating economic and geographic barriers, and promoting the right to dignified, accessible and fair health care.

Our impact

This program enables hundreds of people each year to access medical services that would otherwise be inaccessible. By reducing wait times, eliminating financial barriers and promoting dignity-centered care, we transform medical care into an accessible and humane experience.

Our Work

At Compañeros En Salud we believe that health is a human right, not a privilege. However, in areas like the highlands of Chiapas, accessing specialized medical services involves traveling long distances, facing adverse economic conditions and navigating a complex and saturated healthcare system.

Our Right to Health program was created to respond to these realities, accompanying patients every step of the way, from the identification of medical needs to their treatment, and subsequent follow-up. We do this with a humane, sensitive and culturally relevant approach.

Activities carried out in the program

  •
  • Strengthening primary care: We identify clinical needs and direct patients to the appropriate level of care.
  •
  • Appointment management: We coordinate access to public and private medical services, including consultations, laboratories and specialized studies.
  •
  • Clinical and administrative accompaniment: A team member provides cultural and logistical support in the doctor-patient relationship.
  •
  • Funding of medical expenses: We cover studies, consultations and treatments when necessary.
  •
  • Support for non-medical expenses: We provide transportation, lodging and food to ensure that cost is not a barrier to receiving care.
  • Strengthened counter-referral: We maintain communication with local clinics to ensure continuity of care.
